Is it true that in India women cannot own property?

My sisters husband is no good with money. Could she buy a house/property in her name?
Not sure about the law on that but VIrgodoll you need to realize that many countries have laws against women owning property, having jobs, driving, voting, etc..etc.. In many countries female babies are killed when born as they are considered a liability. They can also be killed by their husbands if they are not happy with the Dowry the women's family gives them. Sucks but that is how it is in many countries

Should equality of property rights for women in India become a major issue across all states in next election?
Public should be made aware of current legislation in each state as death and taxes are affecting more and more lives due to an economical crunch and disadvantaged women.
no, not yet, their is no awareness felt around, but soon it should be made.

Regarding buying property out of foreign exchange in India?
I transferred my money in USD to my Indian ICICI bank account through ICICI money2india..Now can I buy property out of that? Or is there some RBI regulation on that
you can buy from that transferred fund. absolutely ok.
